Happy Christmas. I now have commercial representation by a lovely human named Maren Levinson at Redeye Represents. Contact her at maren@redeyreps.com or 1.323.953.9002. Also, check out some pictures from the Tiny Vices Tokyo Show my stuff is in right now.
Long time no news! I’ve been visiting NYC, crab fishing for a month aboard the Rollo followed by a couple weeks of halibuting. Acres of new stuff in the works. If you’re in Tokyo, Japan in December I’ll have some work in the Tiny Vices show at Studio B opening on the 16th. Check out Tim Barber’s website (tinyvices.com) for a great collection of photographer’s portfolios. Also, I’m still looking for a workspace in Portland if you know of any.
Hi, I’m changing my status to U.S. resident for at least the next year. After crab season which starts for me in a week, My official home will be in Portland, Oregon and I have a new phone number:503-853-2050. The Fishermen’s News has been using some pics lately. They are an old school commercial fishing newspaper out of Seattle. I’m off to Alaska in one week for another King Crab season so email response could be a bit spotty!
A new porfolio section will be added in the future on my reindeer slaughter trip with the Samis in Northern Norway. Meanwhile I have two new magazine covers in print. Also three magazines have interviews and photo(s) with me in print this month: Check out Popular Photography, Outside Magazine, and if in the Netherlands, Dutch Audi Magazine. Below is the cover of Fett, a Norwegian feminist magazine. They didn’t require me to be a feminist to do the cover… whew.
Hanging in Stavanger, Norway at the moment and almost walked off this cliff yesterday. Rumour has it that two weeks ago someone threw part of a hot dog over the cliff and their dog jumped after it. Darn! Thanks to Design Sponge and Josh Spear for the nice reviews of my new website. If you are using Safari and reading this, you will find that the menu dosen’t work, we’re fixing that ASAP but just use the arrows on the top right to get outta here.
The New site is online! There are still a few bugs though…. for example if you are using safari, you might have some troubles with the menu. We’re working on it but its nice to just get it out there finally! Feel free to email me if something isn’t working ok. Also I’ll have photos in two new San Francisco exhibitions: GRSF Tree Show in July and Fecal Face Annual Exhibition at 111 Minna in August. Thanks!
Hi, this dude named Porous Walker drew this picture of me… It looks more like Brian though. I wish my teeth could be this awesome. Anyway, his work is great. Check out Owltooth.com. And keep your eyes out for stories in Fecal Face, National Fisherman, Carl’s Cars and Giant Robot Magazine over the next couple months.
I’ve just arrived in Vardø, Norway. After eating an omelette in the next ten minutes, SF Accomplice Rachell Sumpter and I will set out in search of the elusive Sami reindeer herder and the often shifty Norwegian whaler and will likely have a seal hunting conversation with at least 3 other people. In other news… This months issue of SOMA magazine has a series of street portraits from coreyfishes.
Back in Oslo. Congrats to Karl, Andre, and the other people at Carl’s Cars Magazine for getting picked as one of the best designed magazines in the world by some award thing in New York… I don’t even like cars but it’s my favorite magazine and Karl is a real nice guy. In other news, I’ve got another group show in San Diego this month at L Street Fine Art Gallery in the gaslamp area. Opening is April 27th. A couple pics from the Night series will be present. Say hello to Nicole, she seems like a nice person on the phone.
Greetings from Lofoten. This is the worlds most beautiful place… without a doubt. Cod action is hot out at Røst these days. The cod are slow to move into the fjords of Lofoten this year. I’ve been at sea twice with nice folk in Ure and Ballstad. Fishermen here are very welcoming… Meanwhile I met up with Norway’s largest trawler (see below) for a job for Aker Seafoods. If you are a San Franciscan, check out the Beholder Art show at 111 Minna street gallery which is in late April I think. I’m not sure about the dates at the moment because I won’t be there! The Beholder is an online gallery that represents some of my work. Real nice people there. I am also now the official field photographer for The Fishermen’s News which is a commercial fishing magazine based out of Seattle. I even have my own business card… Also check out the Discovery website for some interesting new manipulations of my photographs on the Deadliest Catch section. The new coreyfishes website is delayed until April sometime. Have a nice day.
